Wild edibles: Pawpaw.
Asimina trilobais one of the best wild edibles. The pulp surrounding large dark seeds tastes like a fruity vanilla pudding. These are growing in central New Hampshire, well outside every range map I could find on the internet.
Very interesting! I wonder if it's just a few growing in a favorable microclimate, or if they are common across the state.
